Downsizing from a House to a Condo

Whether you’ve just retired, or you are looking to move closer to the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks, a condo is a great way to get a gorgeous lake view! There is no doubt that there are lots of perks to living in a condo at the Lake of the Ozarks. Isla Del Sol has some great amenities such as private island living, panoramic lakefront views, boat docks and PWC slips, dog walking areas, and low maintenance perks. However, some people are hesitant to move into a condo due to space restrictions. Don’t let space prevent you from living in a luxury condo at the Lake of the Ozarks! Isla Del Sol has put together some tips for downsizing from a house to a condo.

Start with the Garage

One of the biggest benefits of living in a condo is that you won’t have to do near as much maintenance as you do when you own a house. A lot of things you have in your garage are going to be unnecessarily when you live in a condo. Things such as snow shovels, ladders, and lawnmowers won’t be needed anymore.

Downsize Your Furniture

Furniture can take up a lot of space. People typically buy furniture that will fill up their living room. If your living room is on the larger side, you may need to downsize your living furniture for it to fit in your new luxury condo at the Lake of the Ozarks. This may be a good time to splurge and buy new furniture for a new look in your home. With the increasing popularity of facebook marketplace groups, selling your old furniture can be a breeze. You can downsize and still get some extra money from your furniture. Plus, it will be one less thing you will need to move.

Organize!

Often, you don't have to downsize as much as you think you would. Sometimes the issue is organization. Consider purchasing some storage bins and organize your things into categories. This can help you save space and it will make it easier to move.

Use it or Lose it!

When you start packing, you should ask yourself, "Have I used this item in the last year?" If the answer is no, chances are you don't need that item anymore. It easy to hang onto things over the years that are just not necessary. Your kitchen is a great place to start. Kitchen gadgets can take up a lot of space. Do you really need 3 gadgets that do virtually the same thing? Once you get rid of unnecessary kitchen items, your kitchen will be so much more organized! You won't regret getting rid of a few gadgets when you open your cabinets and everything is clean and organized!

Downsizing and getting rid of your things can be stressful. However, with a plan and some organization tips and tricks, it doesn't have to be! Our luxury condos at Lake of the Ozarks feature condos that are on average 1300 square feet so you might not need to downsize as much you think. When you are ready to downsize and buy a condo at Lake of the Ozarks, contact Isla Del Sol and we would be more than happy to show you around our private island! We have units available for viewing every day from 10am-4pm! Come by and see how great lake living can be!

Reasons to Buy a Second Home at the Lake

Purchasing a second home is a decision that will stay with you for a long time. Therefore, it's important to go over the details with care. There are many things to consider when buying a second home at Lake of the Ozarks, some of which can go unnoticed to potential buyers. The Lake's best waterfront condo complex has put together a list of things to consider when purchasing your second home.

Location
Where do you want to live when you're not at home? Are you looking at getting away from the cold season for a few months? Perhaps you should think about a location that features warm summers and an entertaining atmosphere. If you're just looking for a weekend getaway, your second home could be as close as a day's drive, which is far enough away for relaxation, but close enough for quick returns.

Community
The surrounding community is also important to a second home buyer. Is the community booming economically? Are there community groups and a strong small business atmosphere? These are signs of a thriving community, and an economy that should continue to grow. Go and visit possible second home communities and speak with local homeowners and businesses. They can give you their opinions and tell you everything you want to know about the community you're looking to invest your time and money in.

Investment
A second home is more than just a dwelling, it's an important investment opportunity as well. The housing market has been steadily increasing in value for years. This trend is expected to continue, so now is the perfect time to buy. A second home should continue to increase in value over time, which means the longer you own it, the more it's going to be worth if you decide to sell it. There's always an opportunity you could rent your second home while you are living at your primary residence, providing you with some added income to help offset your mortgage.

Retirement
When it's finally time to retire, a second home can provide the perfect seasonal living opportunity. Choose a home in a location that provides a wide assortment of retirement amenities, such as golf courses, premier dining, and other recreational options, to ensure you never have a dull moment. With a second home, you can stay as long as you'd like, and return to your other residence only when you feel the need. It's possible the second home could become your primary residence!

Isla Del Sol: Your Home Away From Home
Buying a second home is a big investment and is a decision that should take careful consideration. The Lake of the Ozarks' best condominium complex rests perfectly in the main channel of the Lake. The community is one of the most giving and accepting in Missouri, with dozens of charity groups and community organizations to get involved with. 6 Must Know Pool Safety Tips

Swimming pools are great places for family fun in the summer. But the fun can quickly come to an end if someone becomes injured or worse because they do not follow pool safety rules or don't know how to swim. That's why this week Isla Del Sol has 6 pool safety tips to ensure that everyone stays safer in and around the water.

Tip #1:
Watch kids when they are in or around water, without being distracted. Keep young children within arm’s reach of an adult. Make sure older children swim with a partner every time.

Tip #2:
Teach children how to swim. Every child is different, so enroll children in swim lessons when they are ready. Consider their age, development and how often they are around water.

Tip #3:
Make sure kids learn how to swim and develop these water survival skills:
  • Step or jump into water over their heads and return to the surface
  • Float or tread water for one minute
  • Turn around in a full circle and find an exit
  • Swim 25 yards to exit the water
  • Exit the water. When in a pool, be able to exit without using the ladder
Tip #4:
Teach children that swimming in open water is not the same as swimming in a pool. They need to be aware of uneven surfaces, river currents, ocean undertow and changing weather.

Tip #5:
Know what to do in an emergency. Learning CPR and basic water rescue skills may help you save a child’s life.

Tip #6:
Establish and enforce rules and safe behaviors, such as “no diving,” “stay away from drain covers,” “swim with a buddy” and “walk please.”

By following these 6 tips and making sure your children know how to swim and understand the importance of following pool safety rules, you'll more easily prevent an unfortunate incident from happening. Keep in mind that while your child may know how to swim, you should never leave your child unattended. Stay close, be alert, and watch your child when near water.

We hope your family has lots of safe and enjoyable days in the water this summer. Isla Del Sol residents have access not only to the amazing pool and sun deck, but a deck overlooking all of it, plus the beautiful lake all the way around our private island. Paint Colors that Boost Your Energy and Mood

Have you ever stopped to consider how your paint selections in your home may be affecting your mood? Studies have shown that painting your walls particular colors or surrounding yourself with objects of a certain hue can increase happiness, sharpen focus, or even influence appetite. So, we want to share with you some mood enhancing colors to help you choose the right paint for your luxury condo at the Lake of the Ozarks! Let's look at how certain colors affect your mood and energy levels:

Yellow
A color that tends to make people think of summer, sunshine and flowers, yellow is connected to cheerful and increased mental activity. It may be good to introduce little splashes of yellow in your living room or study, but be wary of overdoing it. Too much yellow could lead to headaches or cause a feeling of irritability. It is thought that these side effects relate to the fact that yellow is harder for the eyes and brain to decipher than other colors.

Orange
According to color experts, exposure to orange makes people hungry, so there’s no better place for it than the kitchen or dining area. It’s also worth noting that color therapists view orange as associated with treating breathing difficulties and improving low energy levels. It even seems to enhance circulation, so it could have a positive influence on your focus and concentration. For that reason, you might consider using it around your work space as well.

Red
Studies on physical and psychological responses to color have linked various shades of red with a boost in both heartbeat and respiration rate, creating a surge of energy. While this means it might not be the ideal color for a bedspread, it could be great for a family room or a place where you catch up with friends.

Pink
Often considered as a color of romance, pink is a color worth including in a bedroom where you’d like to enjoy intimacy with a partner. Beyond that, even bright shades of pink seem to be soothing, lowering heart rate and calming thoughts for up to an hour. Because of this, it’s a good color to include in a study area or a place where you like to read for pleasure.

Green
The color that’s most obviously connected to nature, many hospitals choose to decorate their walls with green because of its link to healthiness. While yellow is the hardest for the brain to process, green is the easiest, so it could help to counteract eye strain or feelings of tiredness.

So if you're looking for an easy way to set a positive mood and create a healthy energy in your space, play around with these colors in your home decor! If you are ready to discover your Lake of the Ozarks luxury condo, then look no further than Isla Del Sol Condominiums. This spectacular condo project offers all the luxuries of a large home along with incredible amenities including an exquisite resort-style lakeside pool with zero-entry fountains, and splash fountains for children, a dog walking area, ample parking, boat docks and PWC slips. 5 Perks of Living in a Condo You May Not Have Considered

Owning a luxury lakefront condominium at the Lake of the Ozarks has several perks that a single-family home does not. There are many reasons owning a condo will better suit your lake lifestyle. Here are five perks of living in a condo that you may not have considered.

1. Amenities

Typically, when you purchase a condo there are several amenities that are included in the purchase price. Every condominium complex offers different amenities. Isla Del Sol offers several amenities that sets us apart from other luxury condos at the Lake of the Ozarks. EVERY unit has a beautiful panoramic view of the Lake of the Ozarks. Isla Del Sol also offers private island living, a lake side pool, boat docks and PWC slips, available private storage lockers, and a dog walking area.

2. Low Maintenance

If you are tired of mowing the lawn and the constant hassle of keeping up with your landscape, purchasing a condominium is the perfect choice for you! Owning a condo means you never have to mow the lawn again because it will be done for you. Contact Isla Del Sol, Lake of the Ozarks best condos for a tour of our facility and make the next step to low maintenance living allowing you to make the most of your free time especially in the summer months.

Another perk of living in a condo is you do not have to worry about the hassle of building maintenance. When the roof needs replaced, or the building needs repainted, you will not have to spend time or money contacting contractors to make these repairs. Dealing with exterior maintenance to your home can be both costly and time consuming. Owning a condominium will take away these hassles and give you more time to do what you enjoy doing!

3. Social Environment

When living in a residential area, it is easy to get into the habit of coming home and not making time to get to know your neighbors. The amenities a condo lifestyle often offers a reason to interact with the other residents of the condo complex. You will find yourself going to the pool or leaving for work at the same time as other people. This will give a sense of community and make you feel at home.

4. Security

A major benefit of living in a condo is the security. Isla Del Sol Condominiums is located on its own private island. This enhances the security of the complex because the only people that have access to the condominiums are the residents. Grounds managers are on the property to keep an eye on the complex so there is no need to purchase an expensive security system.

Often, when leaving home for an extended weekend getaway or a weeklong vacation, you feel uneasy about leaving your home unattended. If you own a condo at Lake of the Ozarks, you no longer need to burden your neighbors or family members to watch over your home.  While you are away there are plenty of people around to notice suspicious behavior. It would be difficult for a burglar to walk away with your valuable possessions with close neighbors and only one entrance in and out of the condominium complex.

5. Affordability

If you are a first-time home buyer, often purchasing a condo can be a more cost effect decision. Compared to other lake properties, especially property with an amazing lake view like Isla Del Sol, condos are can be considerably less expensive than a single-family home at the lake. Not to mention, when you consider maintenance costs and the extra amenities a condo includes, the ticket price of a condo becomes very attractive.
