9 Super Fun Pool Games to Play This Summer

On days like this when the weather is scorching hot, hanging out in the pool is the best relief there is from the heat. Our residents at the best luxury condominiums at the Lake of the Ozarks have a fabulous lakeside pool with fountains to enjoy all summer long. Simply swimming and laying out on the poolside sun deck are plenty of fun on their own, but here are 9 lively games to play at the pool when you want to have a little extra fun.

1. Submarine Race
This is simply an underwater swimming race. Each player is a "submarine," and when someone yells go, they race to a predetermined finish line by swimming under the surface of the water.

2. Marco Polo

This one is probably not new to you. It's a classic. One person in the pool is "It" and closes their eyes. Their eyes must stay closed until they tag one of the players. When It yells out "Marco," all of the players must answer with "Polo." This is how It knows where to go to tag someone. Players MUST answer every time, and swimming underwater is allowed. The person tagged is the next It.

3. Color Game

This time, the "It" person stands on the edge of the pool with their back to the players in the water. All players are lined up along one wall, thinking of a color. It calls out names of colors, and if a player's color is called, they must try to quietly and/or quickly get to the other side of the pool before being tagged. It can only turn around when they hear a player leave the wall. If It turns and no one has moved yet, It must turn back around and take one step further away from the pool. The next It is the player that gets tagged.

4. Big Wave
For this game, you will divide into two teams. A beach ball is placed in the center of the pool. At go, both teams do whatever they can to get the ball through the opposite team's goal (or far wall) without touching it. They can shoot it with water guns or make waves to get the ball moving. Be warned, you WILL get splashed in this game!

5. Treasure Hunt
This can be done with sinkable pool toys or actual coins as the "treasure." All of the items are tossed into different areas of the pool. When someone yells go, players dive to collect the most treasure.

6. Pool Dodgeball
Everyone divides into two teams and takes a side of the pool. You can play with as many beach balls as you like. Water balls can be used too, but they can hurt a little if full of water and thrown hard. If a ball hits you, you are out and must leave the water. You can only avoid being hit by dunking under water. The last player to remain in the water wins the game for their team.

7. Duck Push
Each player gets a rubber ducky and lines up. When go is yelled, they must get their duck to the other side of the pool without using their hands, feet, or putting the duck in their mouth. Players may blow the duck, use their foreheads, splash at it... whatever works. The first to get their duck to the finish line wins.

8. Octopus Tag
The person designated as It stands in the middle of the pool. They have only a specific area that they are allowed to move about in. Players must go from wall to wall through It's area without being tagged. Once they are tagged, they join hands with It, forming an "octopus." Every time someone is tagged, they join hands with the group until only two players are left. The first of these last two to get tagged is the new It.

9. Sponge Relay
This game is actually played out of the water, but near a pool is the best place because it is a very wet game. Everyone is evenly divided into teams. Each team has a bucket full of water at the front of their line, and an empty bucket at the end of the raceway. Using a sponge, each team must take water from their bucket, race to the empty bucket, squeeze the water into it, and then race back to hand the sponge to the next player. The first team to fill to a marked line on the far bucket wins.

The pool at Isla Del Sol
Hopefully that is enough pool fun to keep you busy for lots of enjoyable days in the water. Isla Del Sol residents have access not only to the amazing pool and sun deck, but a deck overlooking all of it, plus the beautiful lake all the way around our private island. Recreational Activities at the Lake of the Ozarks

The Lake of the Ozarks was named the Best Recreational Lake by USA Today. Our beautiful lake offers visitors more than 1,000 miles of shore. It belongs to Missouri’s biggest state park and is a sought-after vacation destination with a wide array of activities, from fishing to shopping to dining to spas. These are just a few reasons listed by USA Today for why people love coming to the Lake time and time again. Isla Del Sol wants to share with you a few other reasons why we think the Lake of the Ozarks is the BEST! Check it out:

Boating & Water Sports

One of the main things that drives people to the Lake of the Ozarks is, of course, the Lake! Who doesn't enjoy being out on the water with friends and family? Some great on-water activities that you can enjoy when you're at the Lake are boating, fishing, kayaking, water skiing, and much more! There's no shortage of things to do on the water around here - and what's even better is that you can even enjoy some great entertainment at the waterfront bars and restaurants!

Offshore Activities

While the main attraction is on the water, there is still plenty to do offshore as well. The Lake of the Ozarks is home to one of the biggest outlet malls in Missouri and offers some of the best shopping around. Beside shopping, we also have several family-friendly activities, such as a water park, 2 State Parks, an indoor trampoline park, and even an escape room! Trust us when we say your family will not run out of activities to do here!

Golfing

With over 12 golf courses to choose from, there's not wonder why the Lake of the Ozarks is known as the best golfing vacation location in Missouri! Whether you just play for fun, or enjoy the competition that year round tournaments offer, we've got a little bit of golf fun for everyone. We've even got several putt putt golf spots around the Lake for families of all ages to enjoy!

Live Music

Did we mention the live music? The Lake is a great place to experience all kinds of live music! From country, to rock, to an eclectic mix, you're bound to find something you'll like at the Lake just about every weekend of the Summer! And many local restaurants and bars offer fun activities like karaoke and host DJ's for fun dance parties on the water.

Wining & Dining

The Lake of the Ozarks is THE place for wining and dining! Whether you prefer the serene ambiance of waterfront fine dining, or enjoy a more lively atmosphere with live music and a casual feel, we've got something for everyone's taste. And there are several wineries in the area, so you can make a weekend out of just checking out the local wineries if that's your thing!

If these reasons don't convince you to at least visit the Lake, we don't know what will! But we can tell you, if you haven't visited the best community in Missouri you're missing out! Once you visit, you won't want to leave - and if you decide to make the Lake your home, we'll be happy to welcome you to our lovely community. When you're here, make sure to stop by the best waterfront condominiums at the Lake of the Ozarks to see our one-of-a-kind luxury island complex!

Helpful Tips to Help You Get to Know Your Neighbors!

Getting to know your neighbors can make you feel more comfortable with your surroundings and open you up to people and experiences that you might not get a chance to have otherwise. The Lake of the Ozarks luxury condominiums at Isla Del Sol is a wonderful community full of great people, both full-time local residents and second-home weekenders. Get to know your neighbors with these simple ideas. These will work whether you live in our beautiful waterfront condominiums at the Lake of the Ozarks or any other neighborhood.

Start with a wave and a smile

Even if you are a little shy, the easiest thing to do is to simply smile and wave a friendly hello from your front door. This is a simple way to break the ice and let others know that you are approachable. A smile can brighten anyone's day and is quite often contagious. You are much more likely to strike up a conversation with a happy person than with someone that looks cranky.

Use local amenities

Get out and enjoy what your area has to offer. You are bound to run into others that live close by. Isla Del Sol Condominiums offers lots of amenities on our private island for residents to enjoy together. Swim at the pool, take a daily walk or run around the paths, or even spend a little time fishing or just relaxing on the boat dock. If you are a pet owner, meet others in the dog walking area. This works for other communities too. Visit a nearby park or shop local businesses close by. People in your neighborhood will be there too.

Host an event

If you are an outgoing personality that enjoys entertaining, send an invitation to your neighbors to join you for a cocktail party or even a potluck. You can host it at your home, a local bar or restaurant, a park, or by the pool. A public spot might make it less intimidating for someone that you haven't met yet.

Start a group or club

Do you have small children? Start a playgroup for others with kids. Do you love to read? Start a book club. Strike up conversations with others when you are out and about. You are bound to find similar interests with your neighbors, and many may be excited to meet and explore these interests further.

Welcome new neighbors

Take the first step with people that are just moving in. Send over a "welcome to the neighborhood" note or plate of baked goods. Offer to show them the fun spots in the area. If you make them feel welcome, you are one step closer making some new friends.

Be a good neighbor

Being friendly goes a long way, but if you are inconsiderate of the people living around you, all the smiles in the world may never work. Don't take up their parking spaces. Don't stay up super late at night making loud, disturbing noises. Basically, treat your neighbors the way you want to be treated.

Try a few of these things, or come up with a few of your own. If you let your neighbors know that you are open to a friendship, you have taken the first step in getting to know those living around you a little better. Every community can benefit from neighbors getting to know each other. At Isla Del Sol, we want all of our residents to feel welcome and comfortable in our private condominium paradise!
